Haunt

I sat in silence the other day,

While my poor heart raced away,

Gratefully masked by my chest.

Tell me darling,

What would you do

If I told you my heart’s precious secrets?

If I told you that you haunt me, stalk me

In my dreams each night?

What would you do,

If I told you that all my hopes, wishes, pleasures

Manifest themselves in skin and bone sitted next to mine?

Darling, I bade farewell to my heart once I said hello

To you.

Why do you torture me with your charming smile,

Those kind, spell-binding eyes,

Your silken voice?

Tell me, sweet love,

Why do I find myself swimming and drowning ceaselessly

In a void of nothing but your very essence?

Why does my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth,

Whenever my eyes meet yours?

What do I do

With this fire you’ve

Awoken within me?

I sat in silence the other day,

While my poor heart pounded away within me.

Tell me darling,

What would you do

If I shared my heart’s secrets?
